A girl was refused from entering her prom because her custom dress violated school dress code.  The girl, Marche Taylor, raised hell after she was refused at the door.  She was then escorted to jail by the police.  Looking at the picture, she shouldn’t have been let in the prom.

Marche Taylor’s prom night experience wasn’t what you would call “the norm.”

That’s because instead of a night of dancing and hanging out with friends, the Madison High School senior ended up in a confrontation with school officials and escorted out in handcuffs. Officials said her dress was inappropriate for the prom.

“I actually like the dress. Everybody else likes my dress,” Taylor said.

Madison High’s prom took place at the Sugar Land Marriott, but Taylor only got as far as the lobby. When she tried to enter the ballroom, an official stopped her.

A Vietnamese girl with a 17-pound facial tumor is awaiting life-saving surgery that will restore her ability to eat and speak.

Lai Thi Dao, 15, suffers from a Schwannoma tumor that has been growing since she was 3. The tumor has severely disfigured her face and kept her from attending school.

"She had been with no treatment for the last 10 years," said Dr. Jesus Gomez, who is performing the surgery. "Something that started like a small black bean at the tongue now has become this huge tumor." 

The tumor is scheduled to be removed in a 10-hour surgery April 29.

The International Kids Fund is trying to raise money to help pay for her surgery.

The Sibley County Sheriff says that a man who accidentally shot and killed his 9-year-old son while they were hunting apparently mistook the boy for a turkey.

Sheriff Bruce Ponath says that Anthony Klaseus of Belle Plaine and his son Hunter were hunting turkey about three miles west of Belle Plaine around 6:30 p.m. Saturday when Klaseus shot his son in the chest with a 12 gauge shotgun.

Klaseus dialed 911 on his cell phone. Emergency responders pronounced the boy dead at the scene.

"He was absolutely panicked. That would be an understatement," Ponath said. "Very distraught."

Ponath said the shooting was an accident but that his department is continuing to investigate the circumstances.

About 10,000 people gathered to celebrate 4/20 on Sunday by lighting their blunts at 4:20pm at the University of Colorado’s Norlin Quadrangle.

This year far exceed last year’s turnout. The much larger crowd was moved from the traditional site of Farrand Field to the much larger Norlin Quad to accommodate for the amount of people.

The annual event also had daytime concerts to keep the kiddies entertained.

But, the best news of all, not one person was cited or arrested for publicly smoking marijuana!

In the past, officers have tried to catch the pot smokers. One year, the smokers were drenched with the sprinklers to try and prevent the festivities. Back in 2006, undercover photographers were sent to take photos of those smoking. The photos of over 150 offenders were then posted on the department’s website with an offer of $50 for each person identified.

As for the large turnout, a police spokeswhore suspects it has to do with the fact that no one was in class. “I guess it’s not like they had to cut a 4 p.m. class to go do it. People are not all that busy at 4:20 p.m. in the afternoon on a Sunday.”

The crowd consisted of a peaceful gathering with giant balls and frisbees being tossed around. Most of the crowd went dressed in green, and many were seen playing the bongos and having small picnics.

Art major Aliza Shvarts artificially inseminated herself just to giver herself an abortion.  She is calling it Art.

Beginning next Tuesday, Shvarts will be displaying her senior art project, a documentation of a nine-month process during which she artificially inseminated herself "as often as possible" while periodically taking abortifacient drugs to induce miscarriages. Her exhibition will feature video recordings of these forced miscarriages as well as preserved collections of the blood from the process.

The goal in creating the art exhibition, Shvarts said, was to spark conversation and debate on the relationship between art and the human body. But her project has already provoked more than just debate, inciting, for instance, outcry at a forum for fellow senior art majors held last week. And when told about Shvarts’ project, students on both ends of the abortion debate have expressed shock . saying the project does everything from violate moral code to trivialize abortion.

But Shvarts insists her concept was not designed for "shock value."

Two people have been charged for corrupting or endangering a child after police say the videotaped a toddler as they forcibly made it smoke marijuana.

Police received the video of the toddler on Monday.

According to federal court records, the videotape shows 18-year-old Melvin Blevins of Pataskala, holding a marijuana pipe to the mouth of the child. The child, who turned two this month, was not identified.

Earlier this month, 16-year-old Angel Dailey pleaded not guilty to charges of corrupting and endangering the child.

Police said Dailey was holding the toddler, who can be seen on the tape squirming to avoid the pipe. Police learned of the tape after a Columbus, Ohio pawn shop dealer found it in a camcorder.

A voice in the video says, "It is some good stuff," as a hand gives the choking toddler water.

In March, Blevins was indicted in a drug bust that police said included more than $3 million in cash and more than a ton of marijuana.
Pataskala Ohio Police Chief Chris Forshey says, "They were going through the hard drive on the camera, and came across the video images."
Police say the video shows an unidentified woman holding the toddler as an off camera man gives the toddler the pot pipe. The toddler inhales and then chokes on the pot, according to the video. After that, the video shows a man mimicking the toddler’s coughing.

Forshey says "You can tell that she’s inhaling some of it, and you can tell that she doesn’t want to. So it’s a pretty disgusting video."

A Yemeni court ordered the marriage of an eight-year-old girl terminated on Tuesday because she had not reached puberty.

The court also ordered the child’s family to pay about $250 in compensation to the 30-year-old ex-husband.

The girl’s lawyer and human rights activist Shatha Nasser said the minor had filed a suit in April asking for divorce and told the court that her husband had been physically abusing her and forcing her to have "sex with him after hitting her."

One of the people attending the trial volunteered to pay the compensation, the lawyer said, but did not explain the reason why the court ordered the compensation.

The ruling terminated the marriage instead of granting a divorce to prevent the husband from seeking to reinstate the marriage, according to the lawyer.

Many minor girls in Arab countries that observe tribal traditions are married to older husbands but not before puberty. Such marriages are also driven by poverty in countries like Yemen, one of the poorest countries outside Africa.

A Vancouver boy had a butter knife pulled from his head at a hospital Sunday.

Tyler Hemmert said he and a friend were sitting on a park bench when another boy became angry with them and threw a knife at them.

“When he threw it, we both ducked,” said Nate Leach, Tyler’s friend. “… It just stuck him in the head.”

The butter knife became lodged in Tyler’s head between his scalp and skull. “It, like, stung like a bee for a while,” Tyler said.

Tyler went to a nearby house for help and his friend ran several blocks to tell Tyler’s father.

Police in Cincinnati apprehended four criminals after following a trail of candy wrappers from the candy store they robbed.  One of the criminals brought their 7-week-old child and used the stroller to transport the $400 worth of stolen candy.

As a part of "Wacky Week" at an elementary school in Wisconsin, the students are encouraged to come to school dressed as the opposite sex.  On the day the students came to school dressed up, a local resident called a Milwaukee-based radio station, the Voice of Christian Youth America, to complain.  The radio station criticized the school on nine of its stations throughout Wisconsin.

After the program aired, the school and school district office were flooded with calls and complaints.  Although the event was not called off, the school has decided not to hold the event again.

A man in South Australia reunited with his daughter 30 years after separating from her mother.  Just two weeks after the father and daughter met, they had begun having sex.

"John and I are in this relationship as consenting adults," Mrs Deaves told the Nine Network’s 60 Minutes tonight. "We are just asking for a little bit of respect and understanding."

If that wasn’t bad enough, the two have a nine-mouth-old child together!

A three-year-old boy was asked not to return to his preschool until his hair grows back.  The boy’s mother was told the haircut breaks the rules of Riverside Primary School.  The mother called the school before taking to the child to get his hair cut.  She was told there were no dress codes in affect at the school.

I really have a problem with this story.  I don’t see why it would matter what a three-year-old’s hair looks like.  I doubt he is going to be influenced to act inappropriately because of his hair.  The school needs to wake up.

A family in New York just got a order of protection issued by a judge for their pet Duck.  The order was requested after a group of young people jumped the family’s fence and shot at the duck with pellet guns.  The bird, named Circles, is recovering from a bullet wound.

Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Chief Roy Gross says he can’t recall a previous court case involving cruelty to a duck.
