Drunk

neon_light_party_229095_lA woman charged with killing her son in a drunk-driving accident went to a bar instead of reporting back to jail

The woman was allowed out of jail to attend her son’s funeral, but failed to return when she was required.  Instead the woman was supposedly  a mile from the church in a local bar.

Howard has now been charged with escape in addition to involuntary manslaughter, drunken driving, child endangerment and other charges related to the crash. [Killer Mom via Yahoo]

wheel(ABC) - man found asleep in a motorized wheelchair on a highway in northern Australia was charged with drunk driving, police said Monday.

Officers in a patrol car noticed the man slumped in the stationary chair about 10 a.m. Friday on an exit lane near the tourist city of Cairns, regional traffic Inspector Bob Waters said. Cars were swerving to get around him, Waters said.

The officers breath-tested the 64-year-old man, who registered a blood alcohol reading of 0.301 — more than six times the legal driving limit. He was charged with operating a vehicle while drunk and ordered to report to court on July 7, where he faces a stiff fine if convicted.

"The vehicles that we normally hear about with drink driving are the family car, the truck, the motorbike," Waters said. "But there are also other classes of vehicles that are subject to drink-driving laws," including horses, bicycles, and motorized wheelchairs.

ski After being stranded in the Bavarian Alps for three days, an American hiker was saved using her sports bra as a signal.  The woman was lifted off the mountain by police helicopter after attaching her sports bra to a Lumberjacks cable used for moving logs.

“She’s a very smart girl, and she acted very resourcefully,” said Rasp. “She kept her shirt and jacket for warmth, but thought the sports bra could work as a signal.”

dressA girl was refused from entering her prom because her custom dress violated school dress code.  The girl, Marche Taylor, raised hell after she was refused at the door.  She was then escorted to jail by the police.  Looking at the picture, she shouldn’t have been let in the prom.

Marche Taylor’s prom night experience wasn’t what you would call “the norm.”

That’s because instead of a night of dancing and hanging out with friends, the Madison High School senior ended up in a confrontation with school officials and escorted out in handcuffs. Officials said her dress was inappropriate for the prom.

“I actually like the dress. Everybody else likes my dress,” Taylor said.

Madison High’s prom took place at the Sugar Land Marriott, but Taylor only got as far as the lobby. When she tried to enter the ballroom, an official stopped her.

WNBC says an Orthodox Jewish man got up from his seat and walked to the back of the United Airlines flight where he began praying. When flight attendants asked the man to return to his seat so the plane could take off, he ignored them.

WNBC has an eyewitness report:

"He doesn’t respond to them, but his friends explain that once you start praying you can’t stop," said Brafman, who was seated three rows away.

When the man finally stopped praying, he explained that he couldn’t interrupt his religious ritual and wasn’t trying to be rude. But the attendants summoned a guard to remove him, said Brafman, a writer who had been visiting New York to talk to publishers.

United confirmed that the man was removed from the flight and placed on another one.

inmateA federal prison inmate got himself listed on the ballot for Idaho’s May 27 primary as a Democratic presidential candidate, the state’s top election official said.

Keith Russell Judd is serving time at the Beaumont Federal Correctional Institution in Texas for making threats at the University of New Mexico in 1999. He’s scheduled for release in 2013.

Judd, 49, qualified for the ballot by submitting a notarized form and paying the required $1,000 fee, state Secretary of State Ben Ysursa said. As a result, Democratic voters will be able to choose among Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Judd.

sign_ticket_office_233176_lSteve Steinberg refused to pay a parking ticket issued after his car had been stolen, so the Washington, DC Department of Motor Vehicles sent a collections agency after him. Steinberg’s car was stolen in September of 2006. After he reported the theft, Steinberg says, the DC police and DMV ticketed his car, towed it, then released it to the thief.

Despite having several opportunities to check the car’s license plates, the only thing Steinberg got from the police was a $200 ticket for the parking violation the thief had committed. Steinberg sent letters to the police and DMV and informed them that  his car had been stolen and he would not pay the ticket, so the DMV reported him to a collections agency.

What a sad story, and a bad mark against our government.  How stupid of them.

Taco SaladI can hardly write this story, it is so VERY dumb.  A man wielding a gun walks into Taco John’s Restaurant and demands money.  When they refuse, the man actually gives up and orders lunch.  He then sits down and eats.

The really sad part of this story:  They didn’t arrest the guy until later when he was found at a hotel.  How could they miss the guy?  He was sitting down in the restaurant he tried to rob EATING!
