After being stranded in the Bavarian Alps for three days, an American hiker was saved using her sports bra as a signal.  The woman was lifted off the mountain by police helicopter after attaching her sports bra to a Lumberjacks cable used for moving logs.

“She’s a very smart girl, and she acted very resourcefully,” said Rasp. “She kept her shirt and jacket for warmth, but thought the sports bra could work as a signal.”

A python of almost six feet in length was found in a 10th floor toilet. Gives me the willies.

Reptile catcher Chris Peberdy told the newspaper the python, likely to be a runaway pet, had been traveling through the building’s sewer pipes.

"When I saw it I was pretty shocked," he said. "There is no possible other way it could have got there than through the toilet. I had to give him a wash because he was wet and a bit smelly." [Stinky Snake via Reuters]

A woman from Los Angeles is suing Victoria’s Secret because a metal clip flew off of the underwear and hit her in the eye.  The woman is claiming that the injury caused her "excruciating pain".

"I was putting on my underwear from Victoria’s Secret and the metal popped in my eye. It happened really quickly. I was in excruciating pain. I screamed. That’s what happened," Patterson told NBC.

The lawsuit was filed on June 9th and does not claim any specific damages. [Thong Pain via Reuters]

Police say a New York man cut a hole in a woman’s couch and hid in the carved-out space until she came home. The woman sat on the couch and felt a bump in the cushions move.

We all get a little worried when we get our food and the order is wrong.  We struggle with ourselves wether or not we should send it back. This might make you think twice.

A cook pleaded guilty to a food-tampering charge after putting hair into a unsatisfied customer’s steak. Kropp was charged in Washington County Circuit Court with a felony of placing foreign objects in edibles, carrying up to 3 1/2 years in prison.

According to the complaint, a second kitchen worker told police Kropp had put a slit in the cooked steak and pushed something inside, then stated, "These are my pubes," referring to pubic hair.

At 12:45 A.M. a woman from Condell Park awoke to find a knife wielding intruder in her room.  After being stabbed seven times, the woman pretended to be dead until the intruder left.

She had been stabbed in the arm, chest, and the head.  The woman is lucky the intruded stopped when he did or she may not have lived.

Some idiot who calls themselves a pharmasist at a CVS in New York put a customer in the hospital after giving her the wrong medicine. The pharmasist gave the woman leukemia medicine in a dose higher than a person would take if they did have leukemia.  The woman is now being treated at her local hospital.

You should always check to make sure the medicines you get are the medicines you’re prescribed. Dorothy Enriquez learned this lesson the hard way when she began taking the leukemia drugs that CVS gave her instead of her actual prescription. Not only did the pharmacy give her the wrong drug, but at several times the recommended dose for someone who actually has leukemia.

She took the drugs because she thought she’d been given a generic for her normal prescription, but when she started feeling ill, she called CVS and asked them about the strange new drug. They told her it wasn’t a generic for her usual prescription, but they did offer to refill it for her. Finally, Dorothy looked up the drug on the internet. That’s when she found out it was a powerful chemotherapy drug.

Ms. Enriquez ended up in the hospital, and CVS ended up in Fox 5, New York’s “Hall of Shame.” Fox 5 went to the CVS with their camera crew and tried to interview the pharmacist who made the mistake. He wasn’t willing to talk, but they did notice that he was supervising more assistants than is allowed by law. When they asked him about the violation he smiled and answered, “You’re good!”

A Vietnamese girl with a 17-pound facial tumor is awaiting life-saving surgery that will restore her ability to eat and speak.

Lai Thi Dao, 15, suffers from a Schwannoma tumor that has been growing since she was 3. The tumor has severely disfigured her face and kept her from attending school.

"She had been with no treatment for the last 10 years," said Dr. Jesus Gomez, who is performing the surgery. "Something that started like a small black bean at the tongue now has become this huge tumor." 

The tumor is scheduled to be removed in a 10-hour surgery April 29.

The International Kids Fund is trying to raise money to help pay for her surgery.

Ten years after a man was trapped in a New York elevator for 41 hours, surveillance footage of his ordeal emerges. Now a time-lapse video of the incident is the latest Internet sensation.

A bank teller pregnant with twins was shot in the stomach during a robbery Tuesday morning, and police were questioning two teenagers as “persons of interest.”

Indianapolis police spokesman Lt. Jeff Duhamell said the teller, who is five months pregnant, was in serious to critical condition but was alert when taken to a hospital.

“This is senseless. Some poor lady, trying to make a living, pregnant, shot by a man without any provocation,” said Indianapolis Police Chief Michael Spears. Continue reading »

Romanian media say a man was rearing a lion in his back garden until neighbors decided they had heard enough roaring and called police.

Rompres state news agency said police found a caged 3-year-old lioness, as well as two deer, a stag and two peacocks roaming the garden of the man’s home in the southern village of Pietrosita.

The agency’s report Wednesday said the 28-year-old man is being charged with illegal possession of wild animals and could be sentenced to up to a year in jail.

The daily Evenimentul Zilei newspaper says the lioness will be taken to the Bucharest zoo.

Art major Aliza Shvarts artificially inseminated herself just to giver herself an abortion.  She is calling it Art.

Beginning next Tuesday, Shvarts will be displaying her senior art project, a documentation of a nine-month process during which she artificially inseminated herself "as often as possible" while periodically taking abortifacient drugs to induce miscarriages. Her exhibition will feature video recordings of these forced miscarriages as well as preserved collections of the blood from the process.

The goal in creating the art exhibition, Shvarts said, was to spark conversation and debate on the relationship between art and the human body. But her project has already provoked more than just debate, inciting, for instance, outcry at a forum for fellow senior art majors held last week. And when told about Shvarts’ project, students on both ends of the abortion debate have expressed shock . saying the project does everything from violate moral code to trivialize abortion.

But Shvarts insists her concept was not designed for "shock value."
